SK to Assist in Hydro Power

A leading South Korean company in Hydro power generation has agreed to provide complete technical solutions to develop the Hydro power generation in Sri Lanka.
This was announced by the South Korean Minister of Knowledge Economy Feok Cho who had held discussions with Sri Lankan Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranakwa earlier this month.

The main objective of the discussion was to ensure the possibility of obtaining technical competencies to gain the best hydro power management system in the world- Pump water storage to Sri Lanka, and to increase the existing hydro capacity of 1200 MW to 3500 MW.

The new system is expected to increase solar and wind power generation in Sri Lanka as well as the ability to utilize hydro power instead of the high cost coal power generation.
