25 Sri Lankan Fishermen along with 5 fishing boats have been apprehended in Tamil Nadu.
The Fisherman had set off from Tangalle and had been arrested while engaged in fishing activities in the Tamil Nadu Coastal line on Monday.
Media Secretary of the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Narendra Rajapakse said that Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has been in touch with the Indian High Commission with regards to the arrested fishermen and that measures are being taken to release them during the coming weeks.
Sri Lankan and Indian Authorities held discussions in Sri Lanka recently, with regards to fishermen of both countries crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.
