A 37 years old social activist, named Thasleem, has been shot by an unidentified group, came on a motorbike, when he was asleep at his home, early this morning.
Police reported that the incident has been taken place at Danagama, Mawanella at around 4.00 A.M. and the investigations in this regard are underway.
Residents of Danagama say the person, sustained injuries, is a well known social activist and volunteered himself in several social activities in Danagama area.
The victim, sustained critical injuries, has been admitted to the Kandy hospital and his condition is stable according to the hospital source.
