Investigations into Wellawatta Fire
The Sri Lankan Police are to conduct a special investigation into the fire that broke out at an apartment complex in Wellawatta in the early hours of this morning (08 Feb).
After dousing the sudden fire of the apartment complex, the Police had discovered the remains of a victim hanging from a ceiling fan.
The other victim, a woman who had sustained injuries due to the fire had died upon arrival at the Colombo National Hospital.
The two deceased victims were identified as the 60 year old father and his 32 year old daughter living in the complex.
According to the Police the fire had broken out at around 2.30 am at the apartment complex located in the 37th lane in Wellawatte.
The police claimed that there were suspicious aspects surrounding the incident and a special investigation will be conducted regarding the causes of the two deaths.
The Wellawatte Police are conducting further investigation.
